Introduction
Indoor Cycling, also known as Spinning, is one of the most popular options for fitness enthusiasts; with upbeat music, and a high cardio workout in a controlled environment makes this a forerunner for convenience and benefits. Not to mention also having the right instructor. This short course gives you the theory and practical experience to lead and instruct indoor cycling sessions with confidence and the right training methods.
Accreditation
This programme is registered on the NQF at level 4 and is 15 credits. It is quality assured by CATHSSETA as mandated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). The programme is delivered through mixed-mode which combines contact workshops and seminars with self-study. The duration of this learning programme is approximately six weeks. Students can also study through eta Distance Learning.

On completion of this course, you will be able to: • Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to exercise training • Instruct indoor cycling classes to music
Course Objective
This course will give you the knowledge and skills to work as a Group Exercise Instructor (indoor cycling to music) in a range of fitness or leisure facilities. The course provides you with up to date and well-researched principles of exercise science along with practical learning that will provide you the knowledge and skills to take up work as an Indoor Cycling Instructor immediately.
Course Content
Module 1: Anatomy and physiology for Exercise Instructors (ANIN) (Unit Standard: Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology). Module 2: Exercise to Music: Indoor Cycling (EXCY) (Unit Standard: Lead and instruct exercise programmes for individuals and groups to music).
Admissions Criteria
There are no admission criteria to the programme but it is assumed that an applicant is able to: collect and use written information; communicate clearly with colleagues, clients or members of a facility; compile and write work-related reports.
