Whether it’s on a beach in Bali or a mat at home – Yoga has become a way of life rather than just an exercise routine. This short course will give you the knowledge and skills to lead and instruct Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes for individuals and groups. It will delve into the philosophy and lifestyle of Yoga, giving you a holistic approach to back the teaching methods and exercises taught.
This programme is registered on the NQF at level 4 and is 15 credits. It is quality assured by CATHSSETA as mandated by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). The programme is delivered through mixed-mode which combines contact workshops and seminars with self-study. The duration of this learning programme is approximately six weeks. Students can also study through eta Distance Learning.
Aim of Course
On completion of this course, you will be able to: • Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to exercise training • Instruct basic yoga classes
Group Exercise Instructor Certificate is an accredited qualification which is recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals South Africa (REPSSA). REPSSA is part of ICREPS; an international confederation of registers for exercise professionals which operates world-wide, allowing members to work anywhere in the world.
Module 1: Anatomy and physiology for Exercise Instructors (ANIN). Unit Standard: Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Module 2: Lead and instruct exercise: Yoga (LEYO). Unit Standard: Instruct exercise to individuals and groups
There are no admission criteria to the programme but it is assumed that an applicant is able to: collect and use written information; communicate clearly with colleagues, clients or members of a facility; compile and write work-related reports.
